VOGUE BRITISH November 2021
Hello, it’s Adele, we were wondering if after all these five years you’d like to reveal. At VOGUE British November 2021 issue, with journalist Giles Hattersley, it’s Adele’s first interview since 2016. Famously she doesn’t like being famous, Adele is once again ready to play havoc with the emotional wellbeing of a billion music fans; to deliver the latest chapter in the sonic revolutions of her self-reflection and self-redemption.
Formal pleasantries dispensed with, during the interview in New York, ADELE admits her heartbroken marriage and body shape change, chronically, following the titles of her Grammy winning platinum albums: Drunk as a fart at 21; sober as a new mom at 25; married and failed at age of 30; working out hard without relying any specific diets at 33….by reading Adele, we learn quickly that her sense of humour and candour go hand in hand. She confesses during the paragraphs that the timeline of the press having her marriage relationship is actually completely wrong, and the long-term fraught father-daughter family issue finally finds its peace at the beginning of 2021, after Mr. Adkins’ death from cancer. The whole interview documented during Adele is about to release her upcoming album while not yet finalise the title. Still, readers realise that there will be a seven-minute opus concludes the new album: A string-swirling, Garland-invoking, jazzy, campy, swooning, delight, packed with world-weary reflection, and featuring a strong vocal for the ages.
Raised up in London by a single mom who worked restoring furniture, Adele attended The Brit School, by 20, she was becoming a record-breaker with a clutch of multiple music awards, and by 25 an Oscar—007 theme song for Skyfall. At British VOGUE November 2021 issue, under the lens of photographer Steven Meisel, styling by VOGUE Editor-in-Chief Edward Enninful, turning 18 page fashion and interview campaign, Adele portraits her curves and confidence by wearing wool mesh cape, macramé top, cotton mesh skirt by CHANEL, or shows her strong vibe by showing embellished silk-mix dress by Louis Vuitton, even reveals her soft feminine touch with teal shearing coat by BOTTEGA VENETA, completes with mauve purple of well-tailored nails.
As for photography, in order to contrast Adele’s cover shoot by wearing Vivienne Westwood’s mustard yellow dress, I select CHANEL le Vernis #8 Pirate and Rouge Allure #117 Or Cuivré due to their crimson hues. Accessories with golden plated or 18K materials perform the glamorous and glittering looks, therefore, CHANEL AW21 CC logo brooch and heart shape earrings resemble the theme of November issue, echo Adele’s record breaking and title winning status of Queen. Before my birthday week, I received a lovely bouquet from colleagues, with silver-shining Chanel fabric camellia, I ultimately enjoy a lot by supporting the paper publishing, sniffing every-page-turn, placing cute accessories collected around the globe, spending time to document my reading experience. Perhaps I own a truly expensive hobby, perhaps I am very old-schooled, or perhaps the way I record my lifestyle is less done nowadays, but as Adele addresses during the VOGUE interview, that “The road less travelled is a road best left behind” (254).
